macOS vs iOS sync issue

As of February 2026, there’s a data synchronization between iOS and macOS versions lags or fails to synchronize.

I’m not yet sure whether it’s a problem with Task Compass specifically. It could also be an issue with CloudKit, the Apple data synchronization framework. So far I ruled out a nubmer of issues like two apps talking to different data stores, or Reminder identifiers being different on different systems. The same code drives both applications.

Sometimes the synchronization works just fine. I’m looking for feedback.

I’ll continue investigating the issue.

Update 2026-03-13

The issue doesn’t occur anymore. There’s a visible propagation time between devices, but the data state catches up in the order of a minute. iOS and macOS synchronization is working!
