We Don’t Collect User Data

Task Compass is designed with a “Privacy First” architecture. We provide a prioritization engine that operates locally on your device.

We do not collect, store, or have access to your data.

Information The App Accesses

Task Compass acts as a client that interacts with various task providers. Depending on which integrations you choose to enable, the app accesses the following:

1. Apple Ecosystem (iOS/macOS)

  • Reminders Data: If granted permission, Task Compass accesses your Apple Reminders to display and help you prioritize your tasks.

  • iCloud Sync: The app stores the task ranking and scheduling information locally and syncs it across your devices using your personal iCloud account.

2. Google Services (Android, Web)

  • Google Tasks: If you choose to link your Google Account, Task Compass accesses your Google Tasks via the Google Tasks API. This allows the app to read, edit, and organize your tasks.
  • Task comparisons are stored locally and backed up to Google Drive.
  • Google API Disclosure: Task Compass’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy including the Limited Use requirements.

How The App Uses Your Information

  • Prioritization: To display tasks from your chosen providers for the purpose of ranking and organization.
  • Syncing: To maintain your custom rankings (importance/difficulty) across your own devices.
  • Subscription Management: To verify your subscription status locally using Apple’s StoreKit or the Google Play Billing system.

Data Storage and No Sharing

  • Direct Communication: For third-party services like Google Tasks, the app communicates directly from your device (or web client) to the provider’s servers.
  • No Central Server: We do not maintain any databases of your tasks. There is no “Task Compass Server” that would store your Google or Apple data.
  • No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties. Your data remains strictly within the ecosystem of the providers you have authorized (e.g., Google or Apple) and your local device.
  • Developer Access: We have no technical means to access your tasks or your ranking data.

Data Security

Your data is protected by the industry-standard security measures provided by your account hosts (Apple and Google). By using direct API calls from the client to the provider, we ensure that your credentials and data are never intercepted by a middleman.

Subscription Purchases

  • Payment Processing: All purchases are handled by the respective app stores (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). We do not have access to your credit card information or billing address.
  • Policy Links: All payment data is subject to the Apple Privacy Policy or the Google Privacy Policy.
