Task Compass 1.0.1 — Now Available on the App Store

Task Compass is now publicly available as a free download with an optional Full Access subscription.

That’s the biggest change worth noting upfront. The app was previously distributed as a one-time purchase in TestFlight. The new model is free to download — you can use Task Compass with one Reminders list at no cost. Full Access unlocks multiple lists and is available as a subscription.

What’s in this release

Comparisons

Comparison progress is shown as a range estimate (minimum and maximum remaining), updating as you go. When you complete or delete a task, its comparison history is now properly carried over to related tasks so your existing rankings stay intact.

Task cards

There’s an ellipsis (three dots) button on the top card for quick access. From there you can edit, complete, reassess, start a Pomodoro session, open the task in Apple Reminders, or delete.

List management

Full Access users can create, rename, and delete Reminders lists directly in the app. There are also contextual tips that appear when your task distribution looks unbalanced — for example, if most of your tasks are piling into a single list.

Calendar integration

Calendar access is now optional. If you grant it, the app supports write-only access for scheduling focus sessions without needing read access. Notes on reminders sync with associated calendar events.

Pomodoro

The timer now displays your task’s notes during a session, and keeps the screen active while the timer is running.

Stability

Several data integrity issues were fixed: resistance detection data was being dropped in some cases, ranking could produce different orderings for the same data across runs (now deterministic), and there were race conditions affecting the loading screen and card animations.

Getting started

The free tier works with your default Reminders list — no account, no migration, no setup beyond granting Reminders access. If you already use Apple Reminders, your tasks are just there.
