Task Compass 1.0.2 is out on the App Store.
This is a large update. The headline additions are the Home Screen widget, Daily Cycle mode, and a redesigned task card — but there’s quite a bit more.
Home Screen widget
Task Compass now has a Home Screen widget showing your top-ranked tasks. It comes in two sizes: 2×2 and 4×2. Glance at your phone and your most important task is right there, no app launch needed.
Daily Cycle mode
Daily Cycle is an alternative to the default Continuous mode, aimed at people who want a clearer separation between planning and doing.
It has two phases:
- Plan — you prioritize tasks and schedule what you want to tackle today or tomorrow. The status bar at the bottom shows your Today and Tomorrow queues. You can unschedule tasks from either section by swiping left. After 6 PM, a “Plan for tomorrow” button appears.
- Execute — you work through your scheduled tasks. Tasks only appear when their scheduled time arrives. Overdue tasks are shown with a red border; resistant tasks appear in orange. When you’re done for the day, an “End the day” button transitions you back to Plan, and you get a summary of what you completed.
New users who upgrade to Full Access are switched to Daily Cycle automatically.
Task card redesign
The caught-up task card (the one showing your current top priority) has been reworked as a focused single-task view. From the card you can now:
- Edit notes inline
- Reschedule the due date directly from the card header
- Move the task to a different list
The complete button in Execute mode has a short cancellable countdown, so an accidental tap doesn’t immediately mark the task done.
Other changes
- Main action buttons consolidated in toolbars: marking done, scheduling for today/tomorrow.
- The priority rank is now shown visually on the top task card.
- Due dates are shown on comparison cards.
- Comparison progress shows remaining count rather than total.
- Batch list enablement: you can toggle multiple lists and confirm with Apply/Cancel instead of each toggle taking effect immediately.
- List editing (rename, delete) is restricted to Full Access users. The default list is always accessible in the free tier.
- A number of bugs fixed: memory leak in the EventKit service, incorrect task counts on the list selection screen, loading screen getting stuck, and others.
Known issues
- Synchronization between iOS and macOS. The symptom is that reminders sometimes show prioritized differently on iOS vs macOS.
